Ruby Merritt Scism

Mrs. Ruby Merritt Scism, 92, of Winston-Salem, went to be with her lord on Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center. Ruby was born in Forsyth County, on April 20, 1925, to John and Mamie Merritt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Emmett Franklin Scism, Sr.; one daughter, Patricia Scism Harris; and twelve brothers and sisters. Surviving are two sons, Emmett Franklin Scism, Jr. and special friend, Linda Hale of Winston-Salem, NC, and James David Scism and wife, Mary of Marion, NC; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived out her dream of becoming a nurse later in life when her children were grown; she continued to help others into even after retirement. A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to Kate B.
