Rufus Orville Pritchard, 72, passed away Thursday February 14, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth Co. on February 27, 1946 the son of the late James Orville Pritchard and Leathia Mae Sheppard Wood. Mr. Pritchard was of the Baptist faith and loved to be outdoors hunting and fishing. He is a retired truck driver, having driven for Pilot Freight, ABF and NCDOT. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, J.O. Pritchard, Jr., Cleg Pritchard, Lyhue Pritchard, Lewis Pritchard and Thomas Wood; and one sister, Rena Mae Fox. Mr. Pritchard is survived by his wife of 36 years, Diane Pritchard of the home; a daughter, Lisa Pritchard Hart (Scott) of Asheville; two sons, Brian Pritchard of Pfafftown and Michael Pritchard (Tiffany) of Walkertown; 9 grandchildren, Brian, Kayla, Morgan, Adam, Tristin, Allie, Landis, Braden and Mason; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Pritchard (Diane); four sisters, Lucy Peck (Dennis), Sarah Smith (Chris), Rachel Crews (Jerry) and Wanda Livengood (Lee); numerous nieces nephews and extended family. Mr. Pritchard is also survived by his faithful canine companion, Rex. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Sunday evening at Hayworth-Miller in Rural Hall. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to: The Muscular Dystrophy Association or American Legion Post #290 in King.
