Russell Roger Duggins, 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the Hospice Home at High Point. Roger was born on November 30, 1931 to Russell and Violet Idol Duggins.
He was a devoted and active member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church, where he volunteered regularly in the sound/tech booth. He retired from a career at Western Electric, he loved watching all sports, especially the NC State Wolfpack, using his creativity with wood working and flying remote control airplanes. Roger was especially proud of his family and loved to tell you about all his grandkids and great grandkids. He could be called on by anyone, at any time, and was always willing to help no matter what. He knew how to fix most anything and was happy to do it for you. But most of all he loved being with his sweetheart, Mae, and doing whatever he could to put a smile on her face.
Roger was preceded in death by one son, Joel Duggins and one brother Donald Duggins.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Mae Duggins, of the home; one son, Mark Duggins (Allison); ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one brother Henry Duggins; two sisters, Wanda Wadkins and Diane Gamble; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Bunker Hill Methodist Church with Pastor Chuck Ireson and grandson Jeremy Duggins officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Hospice of the Piedmont who took great care of not only Roger, but the entire family, over the past several months. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
