Ruth Smith Brown

Ruth Smith Brown, 91, passed away on December 8, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on June 14, 1924 to Hubert H. Smith and Nina Gladwell Smith in Staunton, VA. Ruth was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, granny, and great-granny, devoting herself to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William R. Brown; as well as 2 sons, Kevin Brown and Richard Brown. Surviving are her son, Larry David Brown (Malissa); daughter, Janice Steffe (Craig), son, William R. Brown Jr. (Grace); 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; a brother, Hobart J. Smith (Nancy); daughters-in-law, Malinda Brown and Evelyn Brown; and a sister-in-law, Marian Smith. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 11, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
