GREENSBORO - Ruth Blanton Compton went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Beacon House Hospice in Greensboro, NC. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah LiBassi of Pleasant Garden; two grandsons, Kevin Compton of Kernersville, Jeremy Pritchett of Pleasant Garden; great-grandchildren, Jonah and Alivia; one sister, Dorothy Blanton Bailey of Blanchester, Ohio; and daughter-in-law Dee Compton of Kernersville. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Ohio and Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Compton; son Randy Compton; grandson Jeff Pritchett; mother and father, Butler and Stella Blanton; brothers, Ray and Paul; and sister, Ethel. Ruth was born on May 10, 1927, in Panola, Kentucky, but lived most of her life in Bluefield, West Virginia, where she was a treasurer for Bluefield High School. She followed her beloved ""Beavers"" throughout her lifetime. She was a member of Triad Baptist Church, the Sugar Sticks singing group, and Faithful Friends. Her talent at writing the family history and poetry for each member of the family will be sorely missed. Services will be held at Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012, with Dr. Robert G. Decker. Family will receive friends at 10:00 am at the church preceding her services. Burial will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery in Kernersville. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Jonah Compton may be made to Cystic Fribrosis - Winston Salem Chapter,2301 Stonehenge Dr Suite 200, Raleigh, NC 27615 or in honor of Jeremy Pritchett to Gateway Education Center, 3205 East Wendover Ave, Greensboro, NC 27407.
