Ruth “Gail” Foltz Tolley, beloved wife, mama, granny, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Cadence at Clemmons.
Gail was born on March 17, 1947, the youngest child of the late Arthur Alonzo and Alice Beckel Foltz. She was a lifelong member of Friedberg Moravian Church and served in Women’s Circle # 1 and #4, Covenant Class, Women’s Fellowship, and former Co-Chair of Ways and Means committee.
In addition to her faithful service at church, Gail loved planting flowers in the spring, camping trips, and the beach, where she especially liked to go fishing in the fall; but her greatest love was always her family.
In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by brothers, Lonnie Edward Foltz, Donald Lee Foltz, and Charles Alonzo Foltz; sisters-in-law, Alberta Hays Foltz, Joan Michael Foltz, Nancy Settle Foltz, and Dell Fisher Foltz; and brother-in-law, Bob Tyson.
Gail will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 55 years, Jerry Tolley; sons, Eric Tolley (Jessica) and Brian Tolley (Kristin) ; grandchildren, Kayla, Jillian (Colton), Wyatt and Willow Tolley and Jackson Gore; siblings, Opal Stafford (Allen), Archie Foltz and Elizabeth Tyson; sister-in-law, Frankie Reavis; brothers-in-law, Avery Tolley (Patricia) and Jack Tolley (Vickie); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at Friedberg Moravian Church on Saturday March 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Newsome, Bishop G. Thomas Shelton and Pastoral Assistant Jennifer Boles officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the service in the church graveyard.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Cadence at Clemmons and Mountain Valley Hospice for their love, support, and exceptional care of our Mama.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friedberg Moravian Church, 2178 Friedberg Church Road Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family.
