Ruth Shelton Hawkins

Ruth Shelton Hawkins, age 95, of Clemmons, NC, passed away April 23, 2026. Born on January 18, 1931, in Lincoln County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Carrie Shelton. Along with her parents and four brothers, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, and her son, Michael.

She is survived by her daughter, Regina Schomberg and husband David of Clemmons, as well as her daughter-in-law, Beverly Hawkins of Statesville. Ruth cherished her three grandchildren—Will Schomberg, Ben Schomberg, and Andrea McJunkin Watkins—who brought immense joy to her life. Her family was always her greatest pride and achievement.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of 10 Reynolds Tower at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC, for their compassion and excellent care that ensured Ruth’s comfort during her last days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.
