Ruth Ann Long

Ruth Ann Long, the daughter of Wardlaw and Annie Mae Long passed away at home on February 20, 2014. Ruth Ann was born in Columbia, SC on August 3, 1945 and lived most of her life in Jonesboro and LaGrange, Georgia. In May of 2012, she chose to spend her retirement years in Winston-Salem, NC. This move allowed more frequent contact with her family. She relished time spent with her cousins and thoroughly enjoyed the retelling of family stories. Proud of her education and service in teaching, rehabilitation, substance abuse, and mental health counseling, she considered these her most meaningful and treasured experiences. Ruth Ann has been recognized as a member of Green Street UMC. She looked forward to participating more fully in the church's activities. One of her most proud accomplishments was the singing of Handel's Messiah with the Mozart Club. Surviving to cherish her memory are her life partner, Barbara Keller, her people-pets, Tres and Cam, and her family members in North Carolina, Georgia and Maryland. Memorial services will be held at Green Street UMC, Winston-Salem, NC and LaGrange, GA.
