Ruth Bowman Moore

Ruth Bowman Moore, 89, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at Trinity Glen in Winston-Salem. She was born June 2, 1924 in Winston-Salem to James Harry Bowman, Sr. and Mary Williams Bowman. Mrs. Moore was a member of Central Terrace United Methodist Church. She was a Girl Scout Field Executive with Tarheel Triad Girl Scout Council after many years as a volunteer. In addition to her parents and brother, Harry Bowman, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Lee Moore. She was also the widow of Lt. Eugene F. Hutchins. She is survived by her children, Jo Sapp (Robert), Gene Stephenson (Larry), Cindy Shirley and Gary Moore (Ellen). Her grandchildren are Andy Sapp (Tracey), Chad Sapp (Beth), Jeff Stephenson (Michelle), Lisa Stephenson Harris (Clay), Sara Fraser, Salem Kirby, Taylor Shirley, Devin Shirley, Erica Gray, and Brad Moore. Her great grandchildren are Keaton, Ella Grace and Hutchins Sapp; Drew Stephenson; Kesleigh and Samantha Harris; Cole Fraser, Graylen and Olivia Kirby, Katelyn and Gillian Gray and Cody Moore. She is also survived by two brothers, Joe Bowman (Joan), and Jim Bowman (Kay). The funeral service will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, February 23, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Dave DiMarco and Rev. Mark Key officiating. The family will receive friends there one hour before the service. The family would like to express gratitude to the caregivers at Heritage Woods and Trinity Glen (Lutheran Home).
