Ruth Naomi Tucker passed away peacefully at the age of 102 on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
She was born on June 14, 1923, in Kernersville, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norman Tucker; her parents, Samuel Clinton Gray and Thelma Lee Snow Gray; and her two brothers, Richard Beeson Gray and William Lee Gray.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Brenda Tucker Berrier (husband, Don Berrier); and her two granddaughters, Sherri Berrier Brown (husband, Steven Brown), and Ashley Berrier Pinnix (husband, Joe Pinnix III). She is also survived by her four devoted great-grandchildren, Chandler Douglas Brown (wife, Molly Brown), Spencer Phillip Brown, Joseph Leak Pinnix IV, and Avery Bellamy Pinnix.
Ruth graduated from Kernersville High School in 1940 and soon after married Norman Tucker, beginning their long and fruitful life together in Kernersville. She was employed by Western Electric and retired in 1986.
A longtime member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church in Kernersville, Ruth was an active participant in the Walker Class. She found great joy in simple pleasures, including making homemade jelly and preserves from her homegrown grapes and other fruits. She was also known for her creativity and craftsmanship, spending many years creating porcelain dolls and figurines with meticulous skill and attention to detail in both painting and sewing.
The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel, 3950 Macy Grove Road, on Friday, April 10th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A private graveside service for the family will be held at a later date, officiated by Reverend Keith Edwards.
Ruth will be remembered for her devotion to family, her unwavering optimism and endurance, and the love and care she shared so generously with all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial gifts be made to Sedge Garden United Methodist Church in celebration of Ruth’s life.
