Ruth Smith

Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Dillon Smith passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Autumn Care of Mocksville. She was born in Danbury, NC on May 31, 1927 to the late Marvin Cornelius Dillon and Lillie Mabe Dillon. Ruth graduated from Lawsonville High School and retired from Hanes/Sarah Lee Knits in 1989. She regularly attended Northview Primitive Baptist church in Danbury until her health declined. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Vance Edgar Smith; daughter Pamela Jean Smith Tolley; one sister Irene Dillon Woods; and two brothers Glenn Dillon and Acie Willard Dillon. She is survived by her son Jerry M. Smith and wife Suzanne of Advance, NC; her grandson Brett Vance Tolley of Lexington, NC; and former son-in-law Alvin Tolley of Lexington, NC. As well as extended family members Chris, Erin, Carter, Hayes and Ford Wall of Cary, NC; and Trey, Ashley, Witt, Walker, Harper, and Sloan Hardin of Ft. Hunt, VA. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Gardens of Memory Walkertown with Brother Milton Gunter officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations made to Hospice of Forsyth/Davie county in her memory. Rest in Peace, Mom. You always made the best corn bread. I love and miss you, love Jerry.
