Sadie Willard Lyon

KERNERSVILLE – Mrs. Sadie Willard Lyon, 81, passed away peacefully, Monday, August 10, 2026 surrounded by her family. Sadie was born on September 18, 1944 in Forsyth County to Clay and Pauline Smith Willard. She was an active member at Kernersville Wesleyan Church and the Charles Record Sunday School Class. She loved her church family and was always in attendance for worship, church programs, and the many Sunday lunches with her friends.

Sadie had a heart for helping others that was apparent in her jobs with the school system, restaurants, and local nursing homes over the years. She also volunteered in the Helpers Club at Beeson Crossroads Fire Department in the late 1950s.

Sadie had a strong love for family - making herself available for every family celebration, bringing along her homemade fruit salad, fudge and egg custard pie! She greatly enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren and always had a sweet smile, her cute giggle, and a hug for everyone.

In addition to parents, Sadie was preceded in death by her husband, John Lyon; and her daughter, Tammy Hart.

Surviving are her son, Boyd Hart, Jr. (wife, Tammie); grandchildren, J.B. Hart (wife, Jessica) and Seth Hart (wife, Emily); great grandchildren, Asher, James, Jack, and Anna; one sister, Frances Myers (husband, Bruce); a special neighbor, Bob Szabo; many nieces and nephews; and her feline companion, “Angel”.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Kernersville Wesleyan Church with Pastors Travis Shannon, Leon Johnson, and Don Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at church.

Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 17, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
