Sam Adams

Mr. Sam Edward Adams, 84, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.

Mr. Adams was born in Forsyth County to the late Edward and Mary Dickerson Adams on October 22, 1933. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for Western Electric and retired after 37 years of loyal service.

The following verse from the Living Bible most reflects the way Mr. Adams lived his life: "Let everyone be sure that he is doing his very best, for then he will have the personal satisfaction of work well done, and won't have to compare himself with someone else." - Galatians 6:4.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh Adams and Leo Adams.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Adams, of the home; three sons: John Adams (Janet), Phil Adams (Shana) and Keith Adams (Angie); two daughters: Julie Spitzer (David) and Janet Neblett (John); grandchildren: Troy Adams, Brett Adams (Tiffany), Kelly Tanas (Jesse), Nathan and Autumn Jeune, Kara and Jake Blue, Caroline and Andrew Adams, and Catherine and Elizabeth Neblett; great-grandchildren: Kinslee and Kennedy Adams; brothers: Mahlon Adams (Audrey), Jim Adams (Maggie) and Bill Adams (Kathy); sisters: Doris Cain and Sue Branson (Joe); Sister-In-Law; Betty Joe Adams; and a very special family member, Mary Adams.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Faith United Methodist Church, 1645 Griffin Road, Rural Hall, NC, with the Revered Eileen Ayuso officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, December 15, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church or Senior Services, 2895 Shorefair Drive NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
