Sam Vance East

Mr. Sam Vance East, 94, joined his heavenly father Sunday February 25, 2024. He was born September 5, 1929, in Stokes County to the late Powell Henderson East and Emma Collins East. Sam was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to all. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. A humble and generous man, he loved to be near home and truly enjoyed tinkering around, especially mowing his lawn. Sam was such a joy to be around and loved to make people smile with his jokes and songs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three wives; Betty Overby East, Susan Moore East, and Sherrie Maxwell East, a daughter, Marilyn East Neal, four brothers; Tom, George, Hardin, James, as well as three sisters; Juanita, Connie, and Mosell. Sam is survived by three children; Samantha Shiffert (John), Ashley Clodfelter (Ross), Jarrad Abbott (Liz), twelve grandchildren; Jaidon, Willow, and Max Clodfelter, Noah, Holly, and Sophia Shiffert, Madison Marrion (Cristian), Christian, Dallas, and J.R. Abbott, Vickie Smith and Freddie Neal, and two great-grandchildren Dustin and Amelia. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00PM Sunday March 3, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church of King with Assistant Pastor Scott Vernon officiating. Burial will follow at East Family Cemetery, Westfield NC. The Family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:00PM prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church of King Missions Fund.
