Sammie Carol Putnam Morgan

Mrs. Sammie Carol Putnam Morgan, 80, of Walkertown, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. She was born to the late Samuel William Putnam and Nola Mae Wilson Putnam on September 15, 1945, in Mitchell County, NC.

Sammie was a faithful Christian who stood strong in her beliefs. She enjoyed many hobbies such as cooking, sketching, interior design, bird watching, singing her favorite mountain folk music, and harmonizing with her four sisters.

Sammie was a proud native Appalachian. She was known to have an exceptional memory of her family tree and the mountain history that came before her.

She leaves behind many sweet memories of being a devoted wife, mother, and friend. Her friends will forever cherish the way she could always tell it like it is.

In addition to her parents, Sammie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Ray Morgan; four sisters, Wilma Wilson, Georgia Shelton, Hattie Davis, and Amelia Kincaid; and 1 grandchild.

She is survived by her sons, Christopher Morgan (Ronda), and David Morgan; 2 grandchildren and many beloved extended family.

A private family burial at Snow Hill Cemetery in Bakersville, North Carolina will take place at a later date.
