Mr. Samuel Lewis Harper was called home with God on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Sam was the son of the late Shirley and Ruth Harper. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 34 years of dedicated service. Sam was preceded in death by his loving parents; and his daughter, Karen Harper. He leaves behind his loving wife, Tannie Jean Harper; two daughters, Lynda K. Harper of Winston-Salem and Lori H. Craft and husband Darren of Lewisville; one stepdaughter, Debra Davis of King; two grandchildren, Brittany and Austin Craft of Lewisville; two sisters, Eula Spease of Pfafftown and Flora Ruth Forbus of Lewisville; one brother, Richard Harper and his wife Brenda of Lexington and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Pastor Danny Poindexter officiating. Entombment will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff of Trinity Elms Rehab and Hospice of Forsyth County for their assistance and care as well as a special thanks to their friend Wilma Thompkins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
