Sandra Lee Rundall Giffen

Sandra Lee Rundall Giffen passed away quietly at home after a long illness on May 31 with her family at her bedside.  She was born July 3, 1940, to Lois O. Kerr and Paul S. Rundall in San Diego, California.

She was an accomplished artist and stichcraft hobbyist.  Many of her paintings and needlepoint creations adorn the walls of many of the rooms in her home.  She was an ardent lover of animals all her life, having loved, rescued and cared for numerous furry four-legged creatures for years.  She was a genuine animal lover, which was a reflection of the thoughtful, kind, and gentle person that she was.

She lived much of her life in Hawaii, and resided there when it became the 50th state.  She loved the culture of the Hawaiian Islands, and the décor of her family home was replete with Hawaiiana of all kinds.

She is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Marilyn deRoboam.  She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Robert; her sister, Kay Lee Wilhite (Rick); her son Jeffrey Black (Loretta); her daughter Juliette King (Kevin); 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

The family sincerely appreciates Sandra’s caregivers who cared for and watched over her for many months and are especially grateful for the attentive care provided by her friend, neighbor, and professional caregiver, Zaira Leas, whose loving care did wonders for Sandra’s quality of life.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date.
