Sara Lynn Isom White

Sara Lynn Isom White, 82, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at her home. 

Sara was born in Winston-Salem on December 21, 1941 to the late Lemmie Roy Isom and Lillie Margaret Wagoner Isom. She graduated from North West High School, and attended Catawba College until choosing to pursue a career in administration. Sara was a longtime member of Ardmore United Methodist Church, since 1963.

Sara was employed with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. where she worked as a secretary in the Research Department. It was there that she met her beloved husband of 61 years, Tom White.

After staying home to raise her young children, Sara continued her career as a secretary at Wachovia Bank for many years, and was later employed in the same field at The Independent College Fund of North Carolina. She then took a position as an administrative assistant at Independence Village Retirement Living, where she retired from in 2007.

Sara enjoyed quilting and crocheting, and loved spending time gardening and growing many varieties of flowers. Her greatest joy in life was raising and nurturing her children, and later spending cherished time with her granddaughters.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Linda Isom and Peggy Trollinger; and brother-in-law, Joe Trollinger.

Sara is survived by her loving husband, Ralph Thomas “Tom” White, Jr.; son, Tommy White of Boone, NC; daughter, Lisa White Sigmon and husband Greg of Clemmons, NC; granddaughters, Heather Sigmon and Amy Sigmon; brother, Larry Isom; nieces, Lori Marsh and husband Doug, Leah Randall and husband Ray, and Ann Trollinger; nephew, Jody Trollinger and wife Dana; grandnieces, Lydia Randall and Julie Trollinger; and grandnephew, Trip Randall.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the service at Forsyth Memorial Park.
