Sarah Lawson

Sarah Lawson, 92, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 23, 2017. She was born in Forsyth County to Thomas Blackwell Walker and Annie Sell Walker. Sarah was a lifelong resident of Forsyth County and was a retired cafeteria manager for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. She was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church. Sarah and her husband, Robert, loved their family and enjoyed spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Sarah Kay Hurd; great-grandaughter, Samantha Hurd; three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her son, Robert Lawson, Jr., of Raleigh; son-in-law, Shober Hurd of Walkertown; her dear friend, Patsy Cornett of Walkertown; three grandchildren, David Hurd and his wife, Amy, of Rural Hall; Terresa Parks of Lexington; and Thomas Lawson of Raleigh. Sarah is also survived by two great-grandchildren; Christopher Hurd of Rural Hall, and Joshua Parks of Lexington. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with the Rev. Larry Easler officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Walkertown, NC. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
