Mrs. Sarah Evelyn Joines Pittman, 87, of Winston-Salem passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Elkin Assisted Living in Elkin. She was born July 6, 1930 in Sparta, the daughter of the late, William Franklin and Nancy Edwards Joines. Mrs. Pittman was a graduate of Sparta High School and was retired from AT&T. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harley Ray Royall, her second husband, Bill Pittman, her son, Doug Royall, and four brothers, Lundy Joines, Howard Joines, Thomas Ray Joines and Major Astor Joines. Survivors include two brothers, Alvin Walton Joines of Hudson and Bill Joines and wife, Rosamond of Sparta; a special caregiver and nephew, Bobby Joines of Haw River; and numerous other nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 4:00 PM at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel in Clemmons. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 4852 Antioch Church Road, Sparta, NC 28675. The arrangements are by Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
