Sharon Redmon Stamper passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivey M. Redmon, Sr. and Doris Motsinger Redmon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her younger brother, Kevin K. Redmon and her daughter, Tracey Stamper Teague.
Sharon is survived by her dedicated husband of 60 years, Robert W. Stamper; son Chadwick S. Stamper (wife Tara) of Kernersville; brother Ivey M. Redmon, Jr. (wife Sue) of Kingsport, TN; and sister Tina R. Higgins (husband Scott) of Kernersville. “Nana” is also survived by 4 grandsons, Gavin Teague of Charlotte, NC; Garrett Teague (wife Elizabeth) of Sedona, AZ; Grayson Teague (wife Lilli) of Kernersville; Landon Stamper of McLean, VA; and one granddaughter, Addie Stamper of Greenville, SC.
Sharon attended Kernersville School, East Forsyth High School (first graduating class in 1963) and Wingate College. Sharon found her highest calling as the CEO of the Stamper household. She spent her days caring for her family, loved ones, friends, neighbors, and anyone who needed help, especially young people and elderly people. She loved to cook for everyone, entertain, walk on the beach, decorate for holidays, paint and craft, garden, and be a neighborhood “mom.” Her grandchildren were her favorite pastime, though, and they remain the only people ever allowed to eat or drink in her living room!
Sharon accepted Christ as a child, and she a was devoted follower of Jesus Christ her whole life. She kept an (almost) daily journal filled with her conversations with God, prayer requests, Scriptures, and meditations. If you knew her, your name is likely included in her writings. Sharon’s favorite form of worship was music, and she served as church organist and pianist even as a teenager at Pisgah UMC in Kernersville. There is a music room at her home complete with hymnals, song books, a piano, organ, and CD’s.
A memorial service will be held at Main Street United Methodist Church in Kernersville, NC on Friday, April 10 at 1:00 PM with Pastors Wayne Purdy and Sarah McIntosh officiating. A graveside service will be held at the Main St. UMC Columbarium following the service, along with a reception in the Commons. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
Sharon’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at KBR Hospice Home for their incredible love and care. Sharon also held her high school “Girl Gang” in high regard along with her many cousins, loving and laughing all the way home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church at 306 S Main St, Kernersville, NC 27284, Kate B. Reynold’s Hospice Home at 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or a favorite charity.
