Shelby Lyons Willard

Mrs. Shelby Jane Lyons Willard, 73, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at her home. She was born in Galax, VA on April 26, 1943 to the late Charlie C. and Martha Smith Lyons. Mrs. Willard enjoyed playing Rook, Yahtzee, and Rummy. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Preceding her in death were her husband, Kenneth Roy Willard; brother, Billy Lyons and a sister, Shirley Poole. Surviving are six children, Dee Matthews (Donald) of East Bend, Robin Jones (Henry) of Germanton, Melissa Collins (David) of Germanton, Lori Moore (Michael) of East Bend, Ken Willard, Jr. (Sandy) of East Bend, and David Willard (Misty) of East Bend; a very special nephew, Brian Burleson; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Sharon Jones (John) and Joan Hamby (Steve); also surviving are two brothers, James Lyons (Ann) and Wayne Lyons (Janet). A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Temple Baptist Church with Dr. Carl ""Bud"" Owen and Pastor Leon Wishon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. The family would like to send a special thanks to her sister, Sharon Jones for the special care she gave and to her nurse, Rachel Trivette. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Forsyth and Davie County, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
