Sherwin "Butch" Hutchens

Sherwin “Butch” Hutchens, 79, passed away at home on January 4, 2026. Butch was born on April 14, 1946, to Joe Henry Hutchens and Ivey Martin Hutchens in Forsyth County. He resided in Winston-Salem for the past 56 years. A proud veteran of the US Army, Butch served in Vietnam. He enjoyed a successful 25-year career with the City of Winston-Salem working as an HVAC inspector. A faithful member of Love’s United Methodist Church, he taught Sunday School for the W.N. Poindexter class. He will be dearly missed. Butch was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Donna Hutchens; son, Sherwin Hutchens (Sarah); daughter, Casey Lance; two stepchildren, Sheri Kotarba (Mike), and Bill Bowers; and four grandchildren, Ollie, River, Brealynn, and Michaela. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Love’s United Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Wallace Cole officiating.
