Germanton, NC — Shirley Mae Ingram Moorefield, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 4, 1949, in Forsyth County to the late Cephas and Elsie Ingram.
Shirley is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Mark Moorefield; her sister, Ann Burton; her brother-in-law, Kelly Moorefield (Susan); her beloved nieces and nephews, Kim Burton-Goides, Cassidy Moorefield (Angel), and Chase Moorefield (Katie); and her special great-nieces and great-nephews, Karsen, Nicholas, Carter, Max, Sadie, and Sage, all of whom brought her immense joy. A proud graduate of North Forsyth High School, Class of 1968, Shirley went on to earn her cosmetology license and found great joy in her work as a hairstylist. She later dedicated many years of compassionate service in the healthcare field, retiring from Novant Health after a meaningful career caring for others. Shirley shared a beautiful and enduring life with her husband, Mark, rooted in love, faith, and unwavering devotion. A faithful member of Kingswood Methodist Church, she worshiped alongside Mark each Sunday and was actively involved in church life, especially in fellowship and fundraising efforts that supported children and the church’s ministries. A woman of deep faith, Shirley lived as a true servant of God. Her spiritual strength, kindness, and gentle guidance were a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her. She had a remarkable sense of humor that could light up any room, bringing laughter and warmth wherever she went. Shirley will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her strength, her generous heart, and the unconditional love she gave so freely to her family and community. Her presence was a blessing, her love a gift, and her legacy one of grace and devotion. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in carrying forward her faith and the love she so beautifully shared.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Kingswood Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Muckler officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kingswood Methodist Church P.O. Box 399 Rural Hall NC, 27045 or donor’s choice of charity.
