Shirley Jean McBride Sears

Mrs. Shirley Jean Sears, 82, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Silas Creek Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born on January 24, 1941, to the late Paul V. McBride, Sr. and Katie Miller McBride in Anderson County, SC.

Shirley’s main focus was her family, as she was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, grandmother, and in-law. After graduating from Anderson College, Shirley worked as a dedicated and loving registered nurse for decades, the recipient of numerous thank-you notes and gifts from appreciative patients and their families. Shirley loved cooking, cookbooks, and trying out new recipes; her pot roast and squash casserole were epic! She loved flowers and gardening, as well as classical, country and Broadway music. She enjoyed Broadway plays, particularly The Phantom of the Opera. Shirley had the most beautiful green eyes and an infectious laugh - she was 100% authentic and genuine. She was a Christian and was baptized and raised in Iva Baptist Church in Iva, SC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Nissa Crump; and her brother, Sammy (Phoebe) McBride.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Jerryl Wayne Sears; son, Jerryl Barney Dorian (Scarlett) Sears; daughters; Andrea (Rob) Axtell and Crystal Sears; grandchildren, Norman, Praya, Tommie, Larkin, and Camryn; great-grandchildren, Amelia and Ada; brothers, Robert (Peggy) McBride, Paul V. (Judi) McBride, Jr., Tony (Teresa) McBride, Danny (Cindy) McBride, and Chad (Teresa) McBride; sister, Frances (Jimmy) Carnes; and countless special nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral service will be held for Shirley on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Ben Sloan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the service in Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Siler City, NC.
