Mrs. Shirley Jones Thomas, 84, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019. She was born March 20, 1935 in Forsyth County to the late Troy Odell Jones and Viola Richardson Jones. Shirley was a member of the class of 1954 at Mineral Springs High School and retired from Data Max Credit Bureau of Winston-Salem with 41 years of service. She had a love of music and enjoyed playing her organ. In addition to her parents Shirley is preceded by her Loving husband, Sgt. Kenneth Thomas of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s office; one sister, Notra Gava; and one son-in-law Michael Church. She is survived by her three children: Mark A. Thomas (Vicky), Pattie Flinchum (Joe), and Margaret Church; 9 grandchildren: Mark L. Thomas (Tara), Robert Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Sherry Leonard (Tobin), Nathan Thomas, Jennie Flinchum, Justin Church, Andrew Church, and Mason Church; 8 great grandchildren; and 4 siblings: Gloria Teal, Alice Shell, Debbie Dillard, and Randy Maranville. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, August 24 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Preacher Herbert Mabe officiating. Burial will follow the service at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to think the people at Trellis Supportive Care for their help and support, and as that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Trellis Supportive Care, Attn: Finance 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
