Sidney Whitlow

LAS VEGAS - Sidney Marshall Whitlow, 73, went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2018 in Las Vegas, NV, with his daughter, Cindy, and granddaughters, Krista and Heather, by his side. Marshall was born May 1, 1944 in Pocahontas, VA to the late Doris and Sidney Whitlow. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Las Vegas, NV, where he resided with his companion, Nellie Ruiz. Marshall retired as Chief Master Sergeant of the US Air Force where he served with the 820 Civil Engineering Squadrant. He also retired with the Clark County Housing Authority in Las Vegas, NV. Marshall and Janet Whitlow, had some very memorable years traveling with the US Air Force, raising two children and spending time fishing, camping and boating. He was a compassionate person, who had lots of friends, never meeting a stranger. He loved his family, giving everyone personal nicknames, and always had a joke to tell!
In addition to his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Whitlow; and son, Mark Whitlow.
Surviving are his daughter, Cindy Golden (John); granddaughters, Krista D'Angelo and Heather Davis; great grandchildren, Kaylee, Kendall and Kaytlynn Hayden; sisters, Barbara Carlton, Brenda Bowman (Clifford), and Janice Jennings (Jimmy); and one brother, Phillip Whitlow (Jane).
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
