Smith Allen Jones

Mr. Smith Allen Jones, 87, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Bermuda Commons. He was born in Forsyth County on December 6, 1929 to the late Huber Clifton and Pauline Burke Jones. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 41 years of service. He loved to paint and cook and was famous for his homemade pickles and beets. Mr. Jones was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Preceding him in death was his wife, Barbara Palmer Jones and a sister, Bernice Rabon. Surviving are two daughters, Marsha Atwood (Andy) and Beverly Jones; two grandsons, Danny Carter (Melissa) and Justin Atwood and his girlfriend, Hannah; great-grandson, Kari Carter; two special nephews, Ronnie Rabon (Cora) and Donnie Rabon (Pam); also surviving are several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 13, 2017 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Philadelphia Moravian Church, 4440 Country Club Rd. Winston-Salem, NC 27104 or to True Light Baptist Church, 1840 US HYW 64 West Lexington, NC 27295. The family would like to thank the staff at Bermuda Commons for their care especially Jaclyn, Derrick, Liz, and Cathy.
