Sonja Wood Doub

Mrs. Sonja Wood Doub, 70, of Lexington died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born January 7, 1943 in Winston-Salem, the daughter of the late, Fred J. and Sudie Tucker Wood. Mrs. Doub was a 1961 graduate of Hanes High School and was retired from Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System following 30 years of service working at Konnoak Elementary School and serving as assistant cafeteria manager at Philo Jr. High School. She attended Oak Summit Community Church. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Larry E. Doub of the home; two sons, Tony Doub of the home and Michael Doub and wife, Lynnda of Midway; two grandchildren, Katie Doub and Cameron Doub; two step grandchildren, Chelsea Strickland and Cody Strickland; one sister, Shelva Choplin and husband, Doug of Memphis, TN; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Wolfe of Midway and Fannie Doub of Winston-Salem; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 2:00 PM at Crestview Memorial Park with Dave Bohrer officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and at the family home following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Summit Community Church, 284 Oak Summit Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or The American Cancer Society, 4 A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.
