Mrs. Sonja Bay Lowder passed away Thursday afternoon, July 5, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Sonja was born in Stuttgart, Germany on November 29, 1933 to the late Herman Wilhelm Bay and Gretchen Knapp Bay. Sonja was preceded in death by her husband Clarence E. "Bill" Lowder. She is survived by two daughters Sandra Gordon (Kyle) and Diana Baranowski; grandchildren Benjamin Gordon, Sarah Gordon, and Eli Baranowski; and various family and friends from Clemmons and Germany who have been supportive of her throughout the years. She was a long-time resident of Clemmons, NC and a member of Lady's Auxiliary VFW Post 9010. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Parkway. Burial will follow at Union Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Heart Association 7029 Albert Pick Road, Ste. 200, Greensboro, NC 27409. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center for their compassion and care to Sonja.
