S.R. "Buddy" Kimel, Jr.

Mr. S.R. “Buddy” Kimel, Jr., 81, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Buddy was born on December 27, 1936 in Forsyth County to Simeon Rufus Kimel, Sr. and Mary Crater Kimel. He retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve after 21 years of service to his country. Buddy worked for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. where he retired after 38 years. After retirement, he worked for Myrtle Beach Travel Park for over 20 years. Buddy enjoyed the beach and working on cars, but most of all loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Francis Rufus Kimel; and one sister, Pansy Kimel Jones. Surviving family includes his wife of 61 years, Marie Wall Kimel; two daughters, Terri Butcher (Greg) of Mocksville and Toni Kimel (Philip) of Winston-Salem; special grandson, Shane Butcher of Mocksville; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel, with Rev. Jacob Lambert officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kate B.
