Lieutenant Colonel Stanley Selig Resnick, USAF (Ret.), a long-time resident of Bermuda Village Retirement Community, passed away on July 8, 2016. He was born in New York City on October 8, 1919.
After attending Purdue University, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1940. He became a career Air Force officer with over 30 years of service to his country and was a veteran of three wars. During WWII, he flew 58 combat missions over North Africa and Sicily as a navigator/bombardier in B-25 aircraft, for which he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 12 oak leaf clusters. During the Korean War, he flew 56 combat missions out of Japan as a navigator in B-29 aircraft, for which he was awarded an OLC to the DFC. During the Vietnam War, he was commander of a fighter maintenance squadron stationed in Thailand for which he was awarded an OLC to the Air Force Commendation Medal. Upon retiring from the Air Force in 1971, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. He subsequently worked as a logistician for Lockheed Martin and other aerospace firms in and around Sunnyvale, CA, where he resided for over 20 years.
Col. Resnick is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Beatrice Marie (Hammarlund) Resnick. They were fond of ballroom dancing. He is survived by his eldest son, Bruce G. Resnick, who resides in Winston-Salem, NC with his wife, Donna V. Resnick, and their daughter, Hilary M. Van Kirk, of Miami Beach, FL. His younger son, Brian J. Resnick, resides in Cincinnati, OH with his wife, Deanna S. Resnick. Their children, Abigail M. Resnick resides in Cincinnati and Scott C. Resnick lives in Boston, MA.
A memorial service will be held at Bermuda Village Retirement Center on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that individuals make a contribution to a charity of their choice.
