Stanley "Stan" Lee Tedder, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, with his family by his side.
Stan was born on August 18, 1952, in Siler City, North Carolina, to Marcelene Tedder and Jake Tedder. He grew up in Winston-Salem and graduated from Parkland High School. Following graduation, Stan enlisted in the United States Navy as his draft number was approaching. After receiving an honorable discharge, he began his career with the U.S. Employment Security Commission before joining the United States Postal Service, where he faithfully served for 36 years until his retirement.
Stan was known for the special hand wave he used to greet everyone he met. His outgoing personality and genuine kindness made him a friend to all. Whether at a favorite restaurant, a local store, or anywhere in between, he seemed to know everyone and was always quick with a smile and conversation. He jokingly accumulated many "girlfriends," a testament to his warm, friendly nature and ability to make people feel seen and appreciated. Stan's focus was always on others rather than himself, and his generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Stan was preceded in death by his father, Jake Tedder. He is survived by his mother, Marcelene Tedder; his faithful wife of 38 years, Melinda Hoots Tedder; and his loving daughter, Cyndi Clark and her supportive husband, Kevin. Stan is also survived by two grandchildren, Hunter Clark (Sarah) and Walker Clark (Claire); three great-grandchildren, AJ, Emma and Larson Clark; and sister-in-law, Teresa Driver (Ernie).
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at College Park Baptist Church, with Pastor Ramon Smith officiating. The family will receive friends the night prior on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will immediately follow the service at Forsyth Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to College Park Baptist Church, 1701 Polo Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or VFW Memorial Honor Guard, 4433 Bashavia Dr., Pfafftown, NC 27040.
