Steve Dwayne Winters passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Forsyth County, the son of the late Crystal Tucker Winters and James Nerse Winters. He later was reared by his mother Crystal T. Moore and her husband, Norman L. Moore. Steve retired from Bepco, Inc. after many years of service. He was a loyal and generous man who will be lovingly remembered by those who knew him. His heart was filled with the purpose of helping those in need. He is survived by his devoted wife, Yvonne B. Winters of the home; his son, Steven David Winters and wife, Audrey Williams; their beloved children, Lily Okoshi Winters and Steven Jackson ""Jake"" Winters of Advance; and his daughter, Jodi Lee Tate (Henry Beeson) of Winston-Salem. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Moore of Winston-Salem; brothers, James G. Winters of High Point, Michael Moore of Belhaven; and stepfather, Norman L. Moore of Belhaven; his sisters-in-law, Shirl Ackeret of San Rafael, CA, Marilyn Lehrer of Austin, TX, and Georgiana Schackmann of Illinois. A celebration of Steve's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
