Steven Michael Daniels, Sr

Steven M. Daniels, Sr. passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on January 30, 2024.  He was 79 years old at the time of his passing.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Gibson Daniels, and his father, Winfred Woodrow Daniels.

Steven worked for 19 years at McLean Trucking Company until the business closed in 1986.  He spent the remaining years of his career in the field of finance, retiring as a Client Services Associate in the Executive Benefits Group at Wachovia Bank.  He held a bachelor’s degree in business from High Point University.

Steve lived a life focused on faith and family.  He was a devoted Christian who dedicated his life to serving the Lord and encouraging others to do the same.  He held several service positions at Konnoak Baptist Church including Chairman of the Deacons, Finance Chairman, and Sunday School Teacher.  He was also a devoted family man who loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed travelling with his family and supporting his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in their sports and school activities.

Steve nurtured many interests and hobbies throughout his life.  As a younger adult he enjoyed playing and coaching softball, golfing, officiating high school football, fishing, and hunting.  In his later years he focused time on birdwatching and woodworking.  He was an avid sports fan who especially loved his Tarheels.

Steve is survived by his wife of 58 years, Brenda Massey Daniels; his children, Denise Minor, and Mike Daniels; his daughter-in-law, Laura Stanton Daniels; his grandchildren, Ashley Cruz, her husband, Jaime; and Liam, Logan, and Emily Daniels; and his great-grandchildren, Abigail, Jay, and Christopher Cruz.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.  Reverend John Bishop will officiate the service.  Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
