Sue Robertson Harkrader

Mrs. Sue Robertson Harkrader, 76, passed away on June 13, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on January 7, 1941 to Opal Bell Robertson and Franklin Mitchell Robertson in Montgomery County, VA. Sue was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1985. For 30 years, she served as Camp Cook for the church's youth camp. Her servant's heart was demonstrated throughout her career as a Special Education teacher with Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. Countless families benefited from the exceptional care she gave to their children. Sue was a ""glass-half-full"" kind of person who put others' needs before her own. She was always cheerful regardless of the circumstances. She was also a talented crafter. Over the years, Sue made many unique gifts for family and friends. She particularly enjoyed scrapbooking, and had a large circle of friends who shared in the fun of preserving memories. More than anything she loved her family, particularly her granddaughter, Lauren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Sue is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Robert M. Harkrader; son, Robert A. Harkrader and his wife, Kristi; daughter, Mary Beth Harkrader; granddaughter, Lauren Harkrader; brother, Robert Early Robertson and his wife, Brenda; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Truett Williams officiating. Entombment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Friday, June 16, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek.
