Sue Flynt Motsinger

With grateful hearts for a life well lived, knowing that the hope of Heaven can help heal the wounds of earth, we announce that Virginia Sue Flynt Motsinger joined her Lord and Savior on September 5, 2026, at the age of 96.

Sue was the youngest child born to William and Ila Flynt on July 17, 1930, in Forsyth County, NC. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

Her first job was with RJ Reynolds, where she met the love of her life, Wade Motsinger. They were married for 71 years, building a life and family together. You could not help but smile when she shared the story of how they met and how she made sure she captured the man with a gorgeous smile and perfectly shined shoes.

During her years with Farmers Mutual, Sue served as Secretary-Treasurer. Her relationships with coworkers and clients went far beyond the workplace. She took the time to truly know the people she encountered—their families, backgrounds, and the details that made them special. She cared deeply for people, and they felt it.

Her faith was central to her life. Sue lived out her faith through service at Bethany Baptist Church where she was a charter member. She gave herself freely, always willing to serve wherever she was needed, including as WMU Director, organist, on the Baptismal and Bereavement Committees, any more.

But the heart of Sue’s life was her family. She found joy in making inviting meals, sewing handmade clothes for her children, creating traditions, and making memories with those she loved. Her silly dances, stories, and expressions were part of what made her uniquely “Granny.” Her family will forever treasure the love, laughter, and wisdom she shared so freely.

Sue’s greatest legacy will not be measured by her accomplishments or the number of years she lived, but by the love she poured into others, the prayers she prayed, and the faith she intentionally passed down. Her influence will continue through the generations.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Motsinger; her brothers, Raymond, Bill, Watt, Max, and Rex; and her sisters, Lois Tucker and Alma Flynt.

She is survived by her three daughters, Paige Rankin (Mike) of Greensboro, NC; Dawn Walker (Charles, Jr.) of Jacksonville, FL; and Wren Wallace of Willow Spring, NC, who will forever cherish her memory.

She was a proud and loving grandmother to Rebekah Hengy (Joe), Katherine Rankin, Meredith Huggins (Brent), Madeline Warwick (James), Laura Jorris (Austin), Rachel Wallace, and Allison Wallace. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Ashlyn, Walker, Alaina, Trent, Owen, Ruth, William, and baby Warwick.

While her family mourns her passing, they rejoice in the promise of Psalm 116:15, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.”

A graveside service will be held for family and friends at Crestview Memorial Park, 6850 University Parkway, Rural Hall, NC, on Friday, September 11, at 11:00AM.
