Sue Phillips Reeves

Winston-Salem – Sue Nell “Nanny" Phillips Reeves, 72, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, at her home surrounded with love by her family. She was born and raised in Forsyth County, NC to the late Henry Clay and Nellie Charles Phillips.

Sue retired from WS/FCS Schools from Student Assignment. She loved to read, lay out in her pool, and being with her family (especially the grandkids). She loved being a Nanny more than anything. She has always done for her family and others before doing for herself. She was an extremely gifted seamstress and everyone went to her for alterations. Sue was an extraordinary person with a heart of gold. Whether it was an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on or be the voice of reason, she was that person.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Neil Pettus; and a brother, Larry Clay Phillips. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Jerry Michael Reeves; son, Brian Pettus and wife Brandy; daughter, Amie Walls; and her grandchildren; Jordan Pettus, Shay Pettus, Reese Pettus and Neil Walls.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Timothy Porter and Pastor Jonathan Bowman officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM prior to the service.
