Sun Cha Park McCoy born December 1, 1950, grew up in Seoul, South Korea. She met and married Louis McCoy in 1972. They moved to the US where she learned English and American customs. She gave birth to her daughter, Sue-Jin in 1974 and her sister, Nicole in 1978. They moved to King NC in 1980. She attended several Korean churches in the Triad until she came to the Greensboro United Methodist Church. She faithfully served in the church in many roles as the church grew and thrived. She also gave her time and efforts to the Korean-American Association of Greater Greensboro, serving as President multiple times in addition to running the Senior Citizens Group. Numerous people in the community relied on her judgment and kindness over her many years of service. Sun Cha and her family were extremely proud of her hard work to get a GED high school diploma from Forsyth Tech College. She was also a late in life athlete; swimming every weekday for at least an hour and winning a number of gold and silver medals in Master's swimming competitions in her 60s. She made many friends at the Stokes County Y. She also loved to garden and brought tomatoes, spinach, hot peppers and other delights to friends and family all summer long. She travelled with her husband all over the US in the 50th anniversary Mustang Rally and enjoyed trips to Panama, Israel, Korea, Turkey, Japan, and around the US with her daughter and family. Sun Cha will be remembered for her kindness to all, her wisdom, her positive spirit, and love of God in all things through song, prayer, and actions. Sun Cha was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter; Nicole Monique McCoy. In addition to her loving husband she is survived by a daughter; Sue-Jin Lee McCoy (Rabbi Dr. Daniel Aldrich), four grandchildren; : Gavriel Tzvi Aldrich, Yaakov Lee Aldrich, Yehudis Aldrich, Dov Ber Aldrich, and seven siblings; Park Ki Soo, Park Soon Nam, Park Ki Doo, Park Soon Ae, Park Bok Soon, Park Myun, Park Ki Bong. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday June 1, 2023, at Westminster Gardens in Greensboro with Rev. Jun Seok Seo officiating.
