Susan Lynne Spivey McFadyen

Susan Lynne Spivey McFadyen was born in North Wilkesboro on September 27, 1964, and passed away at her King home on May 19, 2025. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard R. Spivey. She is survived by her husband Mike McFadyen; her mother and stepfather Kaye and Paul Hill of Walnut Cove; her brothers, Vann Spivey (Anne-Marie) and Aaron Spivey; her stepsisters, Pam Hill-Martin (Kenny) and Beverly Shelton (Travis); her stepbrother, Paul Hill Jr.; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Susan graduated from Eastside High School in Taylors, SC, and John Wesley University in High Point. She recently retired from Wake Forest University. Susan married her soulmate, Mike McFadyen, on October 6, 1990. They shared 34 wonderful years together traveling, raising their beloved dogs, cats, and goats, and enjoying each other’s company. Susan had strong faith, a kind and generous heart, and a mischievous sense of humor. She was always fun to be around. Susan loved deeply and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday May, 23, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. A committal service will take place on a later date at Parklawn Memorial Park in Winston-Salem.
