Sylvia Moxley Jones

Mrs. Sylvia Moxley ""Nanny"" Jones, 77, ""Loving Mother and Nanny"" went to be in her heavenly home with Jesus and Papa Roby on Sunday, May 21, 2017. She was born in Alleghany Co. on June 5, 1939 the daughter of the late Burt and Ethel Moxley. Nanny cared for her family deeply. The light of her life was her grandchildren. Nanny never met a stranger and cared for everybody she met. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roby Robert Jones, five brothers and one sister. She is survived by a daughter, Janice J. Rogers (Randy); a son, Mike Jones (Lisa); two grandchildren, Clayton Murphy and Brandon Jones (Abby); two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Tyler Murphy; three sisters, Nellie Durham, Linda Durham (Mickey) and Bonnie Moxley; one brother, Raymond Moxley and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Pastor Doug Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
