Sylvia Pope Faucett Spencer McClure

Sylvia Pope McClure, 80, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living. She was born August 7, 1933 in Winston-Salem, the daughter of Lonnie and Margaret Pope. Mrs. McClure retired from UNC School of the Arts where she worked in Design and Production. She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd McClure; two brothers, Richard and Don Pope; and one sister, Flavia Tribolet. Surviving are three daughters and their spouses, Renee Kimel (Charles) of Winston-Salem, Robbin Simmons (Michael) of Pilot Mountain, and Beverly Steele (Michael) of Pilot Mountain; four grandchildren, Michelle Hurlocker (Brian), Melissa Miller (Daniel), Ryan Simmons (Brandi) and Jeremy Simmons; three great grandchildren, Cassidy and Kyler Simmons and Nelia Hurlocker; two sisters, Marjorie Grimsley and Joan York (Horace); one brother, George Pope (Libby); and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 11, 2013 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with the Rev. James C. Newsome, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Mallard Ridge Assisted Living as well as the nurses of Hospice for all the exceptional care and love they provided for Sylvia. You all are truly angels. And to all of our family and friends, you have helped us through this journey with constant support and prayers, and we love each and every one of you.
