Sylvia Shelton

Mrs. Sylvia Wells Shelton, 58, of Lewisville, NC, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 30, 2018. Sylvia was born in High Point, NC on March 22, 1960, to the late John Robert Wells and Myrtle Fleming Wells. She was a devoted Christian and an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. Sylvia was an incredible mother, wife, friend, sister, athlete, among other things, and was loved by all.

She spent most of her career in sales and marketing until her caring spirit led her to The Winston-Salem Street School. Sylvia worked tirelessly as an advocate for The Winston-Salem Street School where she excelled in raising financial resources to support the School's operation. She loved the children at the Street School and it was made clear by her passionate efforts to make sure they had the supplies needed to succeed.

Sylvia was full of life and brought joy to everyone who knew her. She was known for her everlasting kindness and somehow always being able to say or do the right thing to make others feel special or important. She always set an example of how to face extreme challenges with grace and class as she ran her race with perseverance, courage, endurance, and most importantly Faith in the Lord.
She was loved so much by her family and friends and will be missed by all, but we look forward to the day when we will be with her again.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Shelton; children, Wells Herndon (Stephanie), Cameron Nothoff (Nick), and Laine Herndon; two step-children, Betsy McFerrin (Ryan) and Robert Shelton; one step-grandson, Nicholas Andrew; siblings, Ardith Pugh and John Wells (Cathy); numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Centenary United Methodist Church with Dr. Glen Kinken, III and Tamara M. Pollock officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Centenary United Methodist Church.
