Mrs. Sylvia Charlotte Crooker Tribby, 88, passed away on March 10, 2024, at her home in Winston-Salem.
She was born on August 12, 1935, and was raised in Loudoun County, Virginia.
Upon graduation from William and Mary College, she began a thirty-year career as an early childhood educator, teaching generations of pre-K, kindergarten, and early elementary school students in Maryland and North Carolina.
Mrs. Tribby is survived by her husband, William “Bill” L. Tribby; three children, Jay Tribby of Atlanta, Georgia; Lauren Tribby Pruett (Ken) of Winston-Salem; and Colin Tribby (Celena) of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Per Sylvia’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to celebrate Mrs. Tribby’s life and career as an educator consider donating in her name to a nonprofit organization that supports early reading activities and youth literacy.
Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Mrs. Tribby.
