Talmadge "Terry" Southern

KERNERSVILLE - Talmadge “Terry” Southern, 66, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2026. Terry was born on June 10, 1960 in Forsyth County to Charlie and Louise Overby Southern. He was a 1978 graduate of Ledford High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree at High Point University in 1998. His interest in information technology led him to a career with Wells Fargo as an IT Team Leader, where he retired after 28 years of service. Terry was an active member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in High Point. He enjoyed golfing, shooting pool, playing putt-putt and was an avid UNC Tarheel fan.

In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by a brother, Don Southern; and his father-in-law, David Holt.

Surviving are his wife, Anne Holt Southern; his mother-in-law, Helen Holt; two brothers, Harold Southern (wife, Donna), and Lloyd Southern (wife, Kathy); four sisters, Becky Carroll, Barbara Herman, Mary Davis (husband, Billy), and Carolyn Sexton (husband, Charles); a sister-in-law, Vickie Southern; a brother-in-law, Bruce Leagans; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Wesley Memorial Church in High Point, with Pastor Ken Lyons and Rev. Dr. Jeff Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Main Street United Methodist Church in Kernersville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, 1225 Chestnut Drive, High Point, NC 27262. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
