Greensboro – Tammie Ranea Smith, 58, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
Born on March 15, 1967, in Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Harry Jr. and Betty Lou Lawson Smith. Tammie attended Northwest Guilford High School and went on to dedicate many years of her life to caring for and teaching children as a daycare teacher at Northwest Baptist Church.
Tammie had a lifelong love for family, friends, and animals, especially her beloved dog, Copper. She had a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life. She was known for always putting others before herself, offering kindness, comfort, and care without hesitation. Her ability to bring a smile to someone's face—and laughter to any room—was one of her greatest gifts. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by loved ones during the holidays, enjoying cookouts, or cheering on her grandson Brody at his ball games. She also cherished time at the beach and relaxing with her family at their lake house on Smith Mountain Lake. Above all, Tammie was most proud of her son, Ricky, who was the greatest joy in her life.
Her big smile, generous heart, and infectious laughter will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Harry and Betty Smith, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Ray Smith. She is survived by her son, Ricky Smith, and his wife, Taylor; her grandson, Brody Smith; her aunt, Elizabeth “Lib” Cheek; her cousin, Jill Lemar; her lifelong friend, Kenneth James Hutchens; her beloved dog, Copper; and many dear friends and extended family.
Family and Friends are invited to a visitation honoring her life on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
