Teddy Alston Bledsoe

Teddy (Ted) Alston Bledsoe, 87, passed away at his home surrounded by family on February 26, 2024.  He was born on October 29, 1936 to Louise Keesee Bledsoe and William Alston Bledsoe in Reidsville, NC. He served his country in the US Navy from 1956 to 1962. After honorable discharge from the Navy, Ted went on to work for Western Electric Co. as a Project Specialist supporting Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. He was commended for his excellent knowledge and wealth of experience in Shore Installation of the Oceanographic Research Equipment and contributed greatly to the security and success of this program. He retired after 40 years of dedicated service. He had a witty sense of humor and always made people laugh, even in the hard times. He was a  faithful member of Ardmore Baptist church and was a committed member of the Masonic Lodge. Ted cultivated many hobbies through the years including photography, ham radio operator, gardening, fly fishing  and hiking along the mountain trails. He loved the outdoors and his  favorite hobby was traveling with Carol, his sweetheart, camping in their Airstream. He was a devoted family man that always prioritized his family’s needs above his own. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Carol Camron Bledsoe; children, Janet McMehan and Elizabeth Salzman; grandchildren, Adam McMehan, Sydney Salzman and Caroline Salzman. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Ardmore Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Stocks and Fr. Steven Rice officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ardmore Baptist Church. Online condolences may be made at or www.hayworth-miller.com
