Teddy Wayne Hicks, Sr.

Teddy Wayne (Ted) Hicks Sr., 80, of Mooresville, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 20, 1943, in Winston-Salem, NC, Ted was the beloved son of the late James Eldridge Hicks, Jr. and Dorothy Ailene Moser Hicks. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Hicks, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage filled with love and devotion. Ted cherished every moment spent with Ida, and their deep bond was a lasting source of strength and happiness throughout their lives together. Ted worked for Modern Automotive Group for 27 years, where he was admired for his dedication, work ethic, and friendly demeanor. He began his career at Food Fair, laying the foundation for a long and successful professional life. In his personal life, Ted's passions included playing golf, watching NCIS, and spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication to his family, values that will continue to inspire those who knew him. He is survived by his devoted children: Todd Hicks and his wife Melinda, of Charlotte; Jamie Hicks of Atlanta and his wife, Jaime Mehra; and Tammy Hicks Brietz and her husband, Rex, of Charlotte. Ted was the proud grandfather of Griffin and Cameron Hicks, Haylee Furr, Abigail Hicks, Rex Jr., and Max Brietz. He also leaves behind his brothers, Ned Hicks and his wife Sue, Rick Hicks and his wife Pat, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel from 6:00 – 7:30pm. A private family burial will take place at Crestview Memorial Park. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all who have offered support and condolences during this difficult time.
