Terry Stephen "Steve" Elam

Terry Stephen “Steve” Elam, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of the Bermuda Village Community, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on February 27, 1939, Steve lived a life defined by integrity, humility, and a deep love for his family, and an impressive ability to turn any serious discussion into a comedy act. He was a Graduate of Wake Forest University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Business Administration and an ongoing passion of Wake Forest sports and all sports in general. He enjoyed a long and successful career in the credit union industry, where he was known for his professionalism and reliability. Steve is preceded in death by his father, Henry Elam; mother, Francis Elam; and brother, Bill Elam, who surely welcomed him with open arms. Steve was a faithful member of Ardmore Baptist Church, where he found joy in fellowship at the church where he served God in many ways of leadership thru the finance and other committees. His faith was a driving force in all he did, and he lived by the good book.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Elam, with whom he shared 61 cherished. years of marriage; his children, son Mike his wife, Jackie, son Jeff, his wife, Teja; and grandchildren, Tiffany, Eleanor, Mia, Maggie, Milo and Blythe. He is survived by his sister, Lynn Carter of Greensboro, NC. Steve was a steady presence and guiding light to his family, always offering encouragement, wisdom, and love.

Those who knew Steve will remember him for his warm smile, gentle spirit, and quiet strength. Whether at work or in the community, he left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A memorial service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Ardmore Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Mullen, Rev. Tyler Tankersley, and Dr. Gina M. Brock is officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
