Terry Ralph Foust, 84, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
He was born on January 9, 1942, in Cullman, Alabama, to the late Rhesa Eloise Foust and Ralph Stevens Foust.
Terry graduated from Gray High School in Winston-Salem, NC, in 1960 before joining the US Army Reserve where he played baseball. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed writing song lyrics. His song writing hobby landed him a number two spot on the bluegrass music chart in 2009 for 30 consecutive weeks.
Terry married his beloved wife, Jenny, in 1976. He was a dedicated step-father to Andy Fishel. One of Terry's favorite rolls was being the grandfather to his twin grandchildren, Emma and Jacob.
In addition to his parents, Terry was proceeded in death by his wife, Jenny; stepson, Andy Fishel; two sisters, Renea Clifton and Dorothy "Dot" (Paul) Hall; his brother, Stephen “Red” Foust; sister in law, Rebecca Foust; and nephew, Will Hedgecock.
Survivers include his granddaughter, Emma Fishel; grandson, Jacob Fishel; daughter in law, Christy Fishel; siblings, Linda Matthews, William “Bill” Foust and Beverly Collins (Ralph); his sisters in law, Ouida Hedgecock (Steve) and Carol Foust; and many special nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
